Club Wyndham Airlie Beach

Club Wyndham Airlie Beach is a high-rise apartment resort at 9A Hermitage Drive, with Coral Sea and marina views, an infinity pool and its own restaurant. It looks like the easy choice for a Whitsundays trip. If you are bringing a dog, though, the answer here is a firm no, and it pays to know that before you book.

Dogs at the Club Wyndham Airlie Beach

The club's own resort page is unambiguous: pets are not allowed, and the only exception is a registered assistance dog, flagged at the time of booking. Part of the confusion comes from the wider brand. Club Wyndham runs a Dogs on Holidays program with one designated dog apartment at each participating resort, but the published list covers Seven Mile Beach, Coffs Harbour, Dunsborough, Dinner Plain, Kirra Beach and Wanaka. Airlie Beach is not on it. Some booking sites list a dog-friendly unit at this property, so treat that as an error and confirm with the resort before paying anything.

Max: No dogs here, assistance animals only. We shifted to a pet cabin at a holiday park out of town and walked the boardwalk into Airlie each evening instead.

Where to stay instead

The good news is that the Whitsundays coast does cater to travelling dogs, mostly at the holiday parks. NRMA Airlie Beach Holiday Park in Cannonvale takes pets on powered and unpowered sites and in a handful of bungalow cabins, near Cannonvale Beach. Further down Shute Harbour Road, BIG4 Whitsunday Islands Holiday Park at Flametree offers dog-friendly cabins and campsites in quiet tropical grounds. Discovery Parks Airlie Beach at Jubilee Pocket is another park option on the town's edge. Pet inventory is limited at all three, so book the specific pet site or cabin.

Close by with the dogs

Once you are settled at a park, Cannonvale Dog Exercise Area gives your dog a proper off-leash run, and the Airlie Beach Boardwalk is the town's signature on-leash walk, tracing the foreshore toward the marina. Both pair neatly with a coffee run, since several Airlie Beach cafes keep water bowls out for exactly this crowd.

Getting there and parking

The resort sits on the hillside above the marina, up a steep approach from the waterfront. That slope matters with a dog in tow, so drive rather than walk in the Queensland heat. Guests use the undercover car park, which makes loading and unloading straightforward, and the marina precinct is a short drive below.
