BIG4 Whitsunday Islands Holiday Park sits at 326 Shute Harbour Road at Flametree, on about 7 acres of tropical rainforest on the road between Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour, and it is one of the few parks in the Whitsundays with dedicated dog-friendly cabins. Dogs at the park

Every dog stay starts with pre-approval: contact the park before booking, confirm your dog is accepted, and sign the BIG4 Dog Owner Agreement at check-in. Dogs are welcome in the four designated dog-friendly cabins and on pet-friendly powered and unpowered sites, but not in standard cabins or any of the shared indoor areas, so the camp kitchen and amenities blocks are off limits. Dogs stay leashed and supervised at all times around the grounds. Guests report no extra pet charge in many cases, but no fee is published, so treat the cost as unconfirmed until the park tells you otherwise in writing. Bring bedding and bowls because the agreement puts cleaning and damage on you.

The vibe

The park is leafy and low-key, with a solar-heated pool, an outdoor cinema, a jumping pillow and a camp kitchen under the rainforest canopy. Site reviews regularly mention skydivers landing nearby and aircraft noise from the strip overhead, so light sleepers should pack accordingly. It suits travellers touring with a van or booking one of the four pet cabins as a base for day trips rather than anyone wanting resort servicing.

Getting there and parking

The park fronts Shute Harbour Road, the main artery into Airlie Beach, roughly 10 minutes from the town centre and marinas. You park on your own site, and the boat ramps and Shute Harbour terminal are an easy drive for island transfers.

Close by with the dogs

Whitsunday Regional Council's off-leash rules cover the beaches: the eastern end of Shingley Beach at Cannonvale is off leash, Cannonvale Beach allows dogs at its eastern end outside school-hour exclusions, and Boathaven Beach at Port of Airlie takes dogs early mornings only. Conway National Park trails nearby are on-lead country.
