Sorrento is an Italian restaurant and bar at Coral Sea Marina in Airlie Beach, serving wood-fired pizza and pasta with the yachts and the Whitsundays in front of you. It is one of the more reliably dog-friendly sit-down spots in town, with a covered ocean deck set aside for pets.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the lower ocean deck, a covered patio that keeps shade overhead while you stay right over the water. Dogs must be on a lead at all times and not foul or disturb the marina grounds, in line with the marina's pet rules. Water bowls are commonly provided, and some diners report treats, but bring your own bowl.

Known for. Wood-fired pizza, fresh pasta and seafood platters, frequent live music, and one of the better sunset positions in the marina.

Getting there and parking. 22 Shingley Drive, Coral Sea Marina. Paid parking sits in the marina car park next to the venue, and it is a short walk from the marina jetty or the northern end of the Bicentennial Walkway.

Nearby with the dogs. The Bicentennial Walkway runs past the marina toward Cannonvale for a long coastal walk, the marina's public areas are fine for a leashed stroll, and Shingley Beach sits just north.

A covered deck right over the water, with a long boardwalk for after. Time it for the sunset session and walk it off along the marina.

Best for an early dinner or sundowner on the lower deck. Good for leashed, settled dogs who handle a busy venue with live music.
