Wisewould Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Wisewould Reserve on Wisewould Avenue, Seaford, is a quiet neighbourhood park with an open grassy field beside a fenced playground, and locals use the field for off-leash exercise. It rarely gets crowded, which makes it a calm pick for dogs that prefer space over a busy park scene.

The dog setup

Frankston City Council's free-roam rules apply: dogs off-leash in the designated area must stay under immediate voice or hand control, and you must carry a leash at all times. Dogs come back on-lead within 10 metres of barbecues, picnic areas or any organised sport, and the fenced children's playground and its surrounds are strictly off limits. Carry waste bags and clean up immediately; bins are provided. Note that declared menacing or dangerous dogs, and greyhounds, are not permitted off-leash in free-roam areas.

The park's other half is genuinely good: an under-the-sea themed playground with a pirate ship, slides and a trampoline, plus benches and picnic spots around the edge. There are no public toilets on site, so plan accordingly.

Street parking on Wisewould Avenue and the surrounding Seaford streets is easy by Melbourne standards, and the reserve sits within walking distance of Seaford station for a car-free visit. The beach end of Seaford is a short drive or a decent walk away.

Worth knowing

The field is open and exposed, so shade is limited late morning onward, and the playground's popularity peaks on weekends and school holidays. Locals mention maintenance ups and downs at times, so expect the occasional bare patch. As an unfenced free-roam area, it suits dogs with steady recall and calm greetings.
