Kananook Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Kananook Reserve is a multi-use park on Kirkwood Avenue in Seaford built around a fenced oval, which is the draw: a secure space where dogs can run without the worry of nearby roads. It is a quiet, community-focused spot good for socialising and exercise.

The rules. The off-leash area centres on the fenced oval, and dogs must be supervised at all times. Keep your dog on-leash within 10 metres of the barbecues and picnic areas and during organised sport. Declared dangerous or menacing dogs and greyhounds must stay leashed at all times. Carry bags and clean up. Note the nearby Kananook Creek Reserve is a separate area where dogs must be on-leash on the constructed paths.

What's there. There is a water tap with a bowl on site, plus a barbecue and picnic table, toilets near the playground, and dog waste bins. Free parking is available, particularly on the south side near the basketball stadium.

Getting there. It is a short trip from Seaford Railway Station on the Frankston line, with on-site parking on the south side of the reserve.

Expect it busier on weekend mornings and weekday late afternoons; weekday mornings are quietest. With the fenced oval and fewer distractions, it suits dogs that need a secure, lower-key space.
