What visitors mention
Peninsula Reserve is a well-used community off-leash space on the corner of Frank Street and Jacana Avenue, with extensive open grass for running and socialising. It's partly fenced rather than fully enclosed, so it suits dogs with reliable recall.
The rules. Dogs must be under effective voice control at all times, and you need to carry a lead. Keep clear of the Frankston YCW cricket and Frankston Raiders rugby league grounds while they're in use, and stay 10 metres back from children's playgrounds. The limit is four dogs per person, and the area is not for restricted or dangerous breeds.
What's there. Recently upgraded toilets sit within the reserve, along with walking paths, open green space and bins for cleaning up after your dog.
Getting there. The address is Frank Street and Jacana Avenue. Street parking runs along both roads. By car it's a short run from the Frankston CBD via Frankston-Flinders Road. It's roughly 1.5 to 2km from Frankston Railway Station, with buses servicing Frankston-Flinders Road.
Weekend mornings from around 9am to 11am and weekday evenings from 4.30pm to 6pm are the busy windows. Mid-week mornings or mid-afternoons give a timid dog more space. The reserve is open and sunny, so bring water on hot afternoons.
