Worland Park Dog Off Leash Area

Worland Park is a long, thin open reserve on Skye Road in Frankston that doubles as a designated free-roam off-leash area. It is a handy spot for a quick local run, with mature trees for shade and a cricket pitch over summer, but it is not enclosed.

The dog setup

Dogs must be under effective voice or hand control the whole time they are off-lead. Keep them on-lead within 10 metres of barbecues, picnic areas or playgrounds, out of the garden beds, and away from the playground itself. Greyhounds stay on-lead at all times even here. Carry and use poo bags, because bins can be limited and you may need to pack waste out.

A water tap near the playground at the west end serves people and dogs, with basic seating around the reserve. One honest warning: some visitors have reported broken glass along the paths, so keep an eye on where your dog is sniffing and give anything shiny a wide berth.

Max: no fence and a road close by. If your dog's recall is shaky, keep them leashed until you have read the space.

The vibe

This is a simpler neighbourhood reserve rather than a developed destination, best for confident dogs that do not need an enclosed run. Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are the quietest stretches, while early mornings and the 4pm to 6pm window bring the after-work regulars out.

Getting there and parking

Access is via Skye Road near the Gleneagles Avenue intersection, with street parking along Skye Road. Local buses run along the same road, and Frankston Station is a short bus ride or a long walk away.

Close by with the dogs

If you want a fence between your dog and the road, the Ballam Park fenced agility park is the bigger secure option nearby, and Whistlestop Reserve adds a playground-and-dogs combo up the same road.
