Telopea Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Telopea Reserve's fenced dog park is a small, secure paddock tucked into a quiet residential pocket of Frankston North, built for training sessions and confident off-leash runs rather than long rambles. A double-gated entry means no bolting dogs at the threshold, and the enclosure is open around the clock.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies inside the fenced area at any hour. Once you step out into the surrounding Telopea Reserve grounds or the streets beyond, leads go back on, and owners are expected to keep dogs under control throughout. Frankston City Council's standing rule applies here too: greyhounds are not permitted off-lead, even inside designated off-leash enclosures. Shade trees and a shade sail cover part of the paddock, with picnic tables and benches for owners, a water tap, and waste bins. Pack your own bags and a bowl; the park supplies neither.

Max: the park backs onto a BMX track, so keep recall sharp. Fast-moving riders can switch on a chase instinct in dogs that are otherwise rock solid.

The vibe

Weekday mornings and mid-afternoons are the quiet windows, while late afternoons and weekends build up once the neighbouring reserve and BMX track fill. The small size and full fencing make it a genuinely useful space for a dog that needs to practise recall away from distractions, or a nervous dog that would drown in a big off-leash field.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Telopea Court, Frankston North, with street parking right outside. The closest train stations are Kananook and Seaford, but realistically this is a drive-to or walk-from-home spot rather than a public transport destination. There are no public toilets on site, so plan around that.

Close by with the dogs

The Centenary Park Dog Off Leash Area and Pat Rollo Reserve are the other Frankston North options, and the Keast Park Off-Leash Dog Beach at Seaford turns the visit into a bigger day out, with Seaford Beach Cafe nearby for the coffee leg.
