Delacombe Park Dog Off Leash Area

Delacombe Park on Kars Street is a bushland-style reserve in Frankston South, with mature trees and designated free-roam pockets set within the larger park. It suits dogs who like a natural walk and a good sniff rather than a small fenced pen.

The rules. Off-leash is 24 hours but only in the designated free-roam zones. Dogs must stay under effective voice or hand control, and you must carry a leash. Dogs are not allowed on the sports oval or in the children's playground. Greyhounds are not permitted off-lead under Frankston's rules. Clean up after your dog and use the bins provided.

What's there. On-site car park, public toilets, an undercover picnic shelter and BBQ facilities, a playground, and a bushland walking area. Water taps are available, but bring your own bowl to be safe.

Getting there. Access is via Kars Street, a few minutes' drive from central Frankston. Buses run along Nepean Highway and nearby roads; check PTV for the current route to the Kars Street area.

Watch-outs. Because much of the reserve is natural bush, parts get muddy after rain. Keep dogs out of any revegetation or native planting zones.

Weekends and the early-morning and late-afternoon slots are busiest. For a calmer walk with an anxious dog, aim for mid-morning or mid-afternoon on a weekday.
