Cobb Road Reserve is a large, L-shaped fenced dog park in Mount Eliza, roughly 100 metres along each side, giving dogs plenty of grass to open up on. It is a quiet, friendly local park, but two things are worth knowing before you go: there is no water tap, and shade is patchy.

The rules. Off-leash only inside the fenced area. Keep your dog on lead until you are through the gate and re-leash before you leave. You need voice or hand control at all times, and dogs must be on lead within 20 metres of any playground, BBQ or picnic area. No dog bags are supplied, so bring your own and use the bin in the north-east corner.

What's there. Fully fenced with basic seating and a few large gum trees for shade. There is no official water tap. A community-run milk-crate setup with plastic bottles is often there, so bring extra water both for your own dog and to help top it up.

Getting there. Off Cobb Road, easily reached from the Nepean Highway, with street parking along Cobb Road. It is a drive-to park rather than one near a train line.

Minimal shade and no tap mean this one bites in summer. Bring more water than you think you need and skip the middle of a hot day.

When to go. Rarely crowded, even on weekends. Thursday mornings tend to be the busiest stretch, while Sunday evenings and the start of the week are quiet.
