Summerfield Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Summerfield Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a small, fully fenced off-leash enclosure at 19 Lakeview Grove in Mornington, set on the south side of the pond in a quiet residential pocket of the Summerfields wetlands. It is open around the clock and the secure setup makes it a sensible pick for small, senior or nervous dogs over the busier parks closer to town.

The dog setup

The enclosure itself is a compact grassy pen with tidy turf and waste bins provided, so you can drop the lead the moment the gate shuts behind you. Dogs must be on lead in the wider reserve, and under Mornington Peninsula Shire rules they stay leashed until you are safely inside the fence.

This is a simple enclosure rather than a facility-heavy park. There is no separate water point at the pen, so bring your own bowl and water, and carry bags if the dispenser is empty.

Max: the fence is the point here. Wetland and bush surround the reserve and can hold snakes in the warmer months, so keep dogs inside the pen and leashed on the walking tracks.

Worth knowing

Because it is small, the park can feel crowded once a few dogs are in, while weekday mornings are often completely private. The playground and barbecue area sit near the pond, so keep your dog leashed and well clear of that end of the reserve.

Getting there and parking

The reserve is a short drive from the Mornington township and is easiest reached by car. Free street parking runs along Lakeview Grove and the adjoining residential streets, with no dedicated car park.

While you are out there

Winding walking tracks loop past the retention ponds and viewing platforms for an on-lead leg stretch before or after the off-leash session.
