An award-winning Main Street brunch spot two minutes from the water, and one of Mornington's genuinely dog-keen cafes, with a dedicated doggy menu and a street-facing outdoor area that takes leashed dogs.

The dog setup. Well-behaved dogs on lead are welcome in the outdoor footpath seating, some of it undercover so a drizzly morning is no deal-breaker. There is a proper dog menu, so your dog can order a treat too, and staff are known to make a fuss of visiting pups. Dogs stay outside, not in the indoor dining room.

Known for. A produce-driven breakfast and lunch menu with strong vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, plus a popular boozy weekend brunch. The top-of-Main-Street position puts it within easy reach of the foreshore.

Getting there and parking. 39A Main Street. Street parking sits right out front but turns over slowly at peak times; nearby side streets and the off-street car parks are more reliable on weekends.

Nearby with the dogs. Main Street runs down to Mornington Park and the foreshore, a two-minute walk. Royal Beach off-leash area is a short hop south for an after-brunch run.

When to go. Weekday mornings are calmest for a dog; weekend brunch is the busy draw, so aim early if you want an undercover table with room beside it.
