Leash free area (fenced)

This is one of Mount Martha's fenced leash-free areas, set in the north-western corner of a local park off Helena Street. It is a secure, enclosed space for dogs to run off-lead close to the village and the foreshore.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash inside the fenced area and must be under effective voice control. The fencing makes it a sound choice for dogs still working on recall, but keep them on-lead until the gate is shut behind you. Clean up after your dog and use the bins provided.

What is there. The draw is the fence itself: a contained run with some tree shade. Amenities are basic, so bring your own water bowl. Confirm exact gate and tap details on site, as council facilities at the smaller reserves can vary.

Getting there. Reached via Helena Street, just up from the Mount Martha Esplanade. Street parking is available nearby but can be limited at busy times.

When to go. Weekday mornings are the calmest. Being fenced and central, it is a handy option to pair with a walk down to the foreshore; check beach signage for seasonal dog rules before you head to the sand.
