Dunns Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Dunns Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits at the northern end of the reserve in Mount Martha, and it is the pick of the Peninsula's local parks if your dog likes to work. A roughly one-hectare flat grassy enclosure with a permanent agility course, open around the clock and fully fenced.

Leash status

Off-leash is certain inside the fenced enclosure under Mornington Peninsula Shire rules, and the double-gated entry makes it a genuine option for dogs still building recall. Keep the lead on everywhere else: through the wider reserve paths, around the playground and in the parking areas, unless signage explicitly says otherwise, in which case effective voice or hand control applies. Bags and bins are provided at the enclosure.

The dog setup

This is the well-equipped one. Permanent agility gear including A-frames and jumps anchors one side, a tap with a water bowl covers hydration, and bench seating lines the fence for the owners. The flat open grass is the real win though: room to run flat-out with the fence doing the worrying. The park is unlit, so a 24/7 opening only counts until dusk.

Pepsi: everyone wants the A-frame on Saturday morning. If yours lives for the agility gear, come midweek when the course is free.

Getting there and parking

Reach it via Hearn Road off the Nepean Highway, with a dedicated car park right beside the entrance. Public toilets sit close by in the reserve, and the surrounding residential streets take the overflow at peak times. It is best accessed by car.

When to go

Weekday mornings and afternoons and weekend mornings are the busy sessions. Midday through the week is the quietest window, which suits shy dogs and anyone who wants the agility course to themselves.
