Harrap Road Reserve is a fully fenced, wooded off-leash dog area on Harrap Road in Mount Martha, sitting right beside a fenced children's playground. The mix of secure fencing and mature trees makes it a handy family stop.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash only within the fenced dog area, and strictly not allowed inside the adjacent playground. Keep your dog under voice control and supervised, and clean up using the bins on site.

What is there. The area is fully enclosed, with a rotunda at the entrance to sit and supervise and natural shade from the established trees. There are often no water taps for dogs, so bring your own.

Watch-outs. It is a bush setting, so be alert for snakes in the warmer months.

Two fenced areas sit side by side here - the dog run and the kids playground. Mind the gates and keep your dog out of the playground; the boundary matters more than usual with children next door.

Getting there. Accessible via the Nepean Highway onto Harrap Road. Parking is informal street parking near the entrance and can be limited. Buses run along the Nepean Highway, but car is easiest.

When to go. Weekends and late weekday afternoons are busiest. The area is large enough to find a quiet corner, and weekday mid-mornings suit shyer dogs.
