John Butler Reserve Fenced Dog Park

John Butler Reserve is a fully fenced, leafy off-leash park on Mount Eliza Way, open 24 hours and set up so owners can walk the internal paths while their dogs play. Mature shade trees, natural log obstacles and a secure double gate make it a reliable everyday option, especially for dogs who do better behind a fence.

The rules. Fully fenced with a double-gated airlock entry, so close one gate before opening the next. Off-leash applies only inside the fenced zone: dogs must be on lead in the car park and on any paths outside the fence. Aggressive dogs are not welcome, and you are expected to supervise and pick up after your dog.

What's there. An external tap with communal bowls, scattered benches and picnic tables, walking paths inside the fence, rubbish bins and good shade from the established trees. Parts of the reserve can turn muddy after heavy rain.

Getting there. An on-site car park sits right at the entrance off Mount Eliza Way, with wheelchair-accessible parking and entry. It is central enough that plenty of locals walk in.

When to go. Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are calmest. It gets busiest on weekend mornings and weekday late afternoons. For a quieter run with fewer dogs about, aim for before 8am on a weekday.
