Robinsons Park Dog Off Leash Area

Robinsons Park is a large, open off-leash reserve on Robinsons Road in Frankston South, mixing flat grassy runs with wooded pockets and a small dam that dogs wade into on warm days. It is off-leash around the clock, which is rare on its own, and locals rate it for its easy, friendly crowd and sheer variety of terrain.

The dog setup

Frankston City Council's free-roam rules apply: dogs run off-leash under effective voice control and within sight, you carry a lead at all times, and dogs without reliable recall stay on lead. Leash up entering and exiting, and keep at least ten metres from organised sport, the playground and the BBQ and picnic areas. The reserve is not fenced, and the boundaries run close to the road on some sides. Water taps with dog bowls, bag dispensers and bins sit on site, with public toilets near the pavilion and a car park at the 96-100 Robinsons Road entrance.

Max: the dam is the star, but it is an open stormwater dam, not a dog pool, so the water changes after rain. If recall is patchy, work the flat central grass and leave the tree line until you trust the place.

Watch-outs

The wooded sections and long grass warrant care in the warmer months, roughly October to April, when snakes are active on the Mornington Peninsula. Check the dam edge after heavy rain before letting a keen swimmer in.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits at 96-100 Robinsons Road, Frankston South, easiest by car with free parking on site. Bus routes along the Nepean Highway or Frankston-Flinders Road get you close, with a short walk in. Extensive paths thread through the trees if you want to add distance to the visit.
