Stornoway Drive Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Stornoway Drive Reserve is a small, fenced off-leash park tucked into a residential pocket of Baxter on the Mornington Peninsula, the kind of low-key local spot that suits a dog who wants a solid run without the crowds of the bigger reserves nearby.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash only inside the fenced area. Owners must keep their dog under control and in sight at all times, and bring it back to heel immediately if it bothers another dog or person. Carry a leash even once you are inside, for emergencies or when you are ready to head back to the car.

What's there. The fenced area is grassy and open, with drinking water on site and limited seating. Bin availability is not guaranteed, so bring your own waste bags and carry rubbish out if the bins are full.

Getting there. The park sits on Stornoway Drive, Baxter, off Frankston-Flinders Road. There is street parking along Stornoway Drive but no significant public transport nearby, so this one is really a drive-to park rather than a train-and-walk option from Baxter station.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafe Viana in Baxter is a short drive away for pies and coffee afterwards, and Somerville's Grant Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park and Pugs In Mugs cafe are both close by if you want to make a longer loop of it.

When to go. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest; weekend mornings and the after-school and after-work rush are the busiest windows. This is a landlocked reserve with no tidal or coastal factors to plan around, just the weather underfoot, so check conditions after heavy rain before you commit to a long visit.
