Stornoway Drive Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Stornoway Drive Reserve is a small, fenced off-leash park tucked into a residential pocket of Baxter on the Mornington Peninsula. It is a low-key local spot that suits a dog wanting a solid run without the crowds of the bigger reserves nearby, and the fence line is the reason locals rate it.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies only inside the fenced area, which is grassy and open with drinking water on site and limited seating. Owners keep their dog under control and in sight, and bring the dog back to heel immediately if it bothers another dog or person. Carry a lead even once you are inside, both for emergencies and for the walk back to the car. Bins are not guaranteed, so pack your own waste bags and take rubbish out if the bins are full.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Stornoway Drive, off Frankston-Flinders Road in Baxter. Parking is street-side along Stornoway Drive, and there is no significant public transport nearby, so this is a drive-to park rather than a train-and-walk option from Baxter station.

The vibe

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest, while weekend mornings and the after-school and after-work rush are the busiest windows. This is a landlocked reserve with no coastal factors to plan around, just weather underfoot, and conditions after heavy rain are the only real variable worth checking.

Close by with the dogs

Cafe Viana in Baxter is a short drive away for pies and coffee afterwards. On a warm day, the Fossil Beach dog off-leash area adds sand and water to the loop.
