The reserve. Ramsden Street Reserve sits alongside Merri Creek in Clifton Hill, a large open space built around a sports oval with native planting and the Capital City Trail running through it. The draw is room to run in a green corridor close to the creek, with trail access straight off the reserve.
The rules. This is a shared sports ground, so off-leash only works when the oval is not booked for approved sport or training - when it is in use, dogs must be on-leash within 10 metres of the ground. The reserve is not fully fenced and opens toward nearby roads and the creek, so solid recall is essential. Note that dogs must be on-leash on the Merri Creek walking trails that border the park.
What is there. A drinking fountain, some shaded spots to rest, a modern pavilion, and the sealed Capital City Trail for longer walks. Free street parking runs along Ramsden Street.

Getting there. It sits directly on the Capital City Trail, so it is easy to reach on foot or bike from Northcote and Collingwood, and Clifton Hill Railway Station is within walking distance. By car, the Clifton Hill exit off the Eastern Freeway feeds into the local streets around the reserve.
Nearby with the dogs. Queens Parade a short hop away has a run of dog-friendly cafes with footpath seating for coffee afterwards.
When to go. Weekend mornings and weekday evenings are busiest, often overlapping with organised training on the oval. Mid-week mornings and early afternoons are the quiet, low-conflict window - and if the oval is booked out, walk the adjacent Merri Creek trail on-leash instead.
