ParkSide Stay is a self-contained apartment at 109 Walker Street, Clifton Hill, about 4 kilometres from Melbourne's CBD. It has its own private entrance, a combined living and dining area, a king-size bed, a kitchenette, a fireplace and plenty of natural light. For dog travellers the headline feature is outside: a secure, enclosed private courtyard garden with BBQ facilities, right off your own entrance.

Dogs are welcomed overnight, and the enclosed courtyard gives them their own outdoor space without a leash-and-street routine every time they need air. No weight limit or pet fee is published, so call the host before booking with your dog's size and number and get the terms confirmed in writing. Check the gate latches and fencing before you rely on the courtyard for unsupervised time.

Worth knowing

This is a one-apartment property rather than a hotel, which is why privacy and light come up so often in guest feedback. It suits a couple or solo traveller with a settled dog who wants an inner-city base. Walker Street puts you an easy walk from Clifton Hill village cafes and the Fitzroy strip, with public transport close by.

Getting there and out with the dog

The apartment sits on the edge of the parklands that follow Merri Creek. Under Yarra City Council rules, the Merri Creek Trail itself is on-leash as a shared path, but genuine off-lead options are minutes away: Quarries Park Dog Off Leash Area covers most of the park and the Darling Gardens Off-Leash Area is a split-zone park, both with 10-metre leash rules near playgrounds. The Abrahams Reserve via Merri Creek Track is a good on-lead leg stretcher.
