Easthill Estate

Easthill Estate is a boutique, family-run winery on Kangaroo Ground-St Andrews Road, about 35 to 40 minutes from Melbourne, and it is one of the few cellar doors around the Yarra Valley's edge where a dog is welcome inside as well as out: well-behaved dogs can join you in the outdoor vineyard areas and in the cellar door space itself.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead and under control, in the outdoor areas and inside the cellar door, which makes a wet afternoon workable rather than a write-off. The grounds look out across the vines, so there is room to settle in beside your table. Bring your own water bowl, because there is no confirmation that bowls or treats are supplied at a working winery.

The vibe

The wines are small-batch and estate grown, and food runs on a build-your-own platter setup: you pick the cheeses, dips, crackers and deli meats yourself. Sunday sessions regularly add live music, often with food vendors on site, so a tasting can stretch into an afternoon. This is a day-visit venue only, with no accommodation on the property.

Max: a working winery means staff carrying stock and other guests moving past your table. Keep the lead short near the cellar door and have your own bowl ready.

The cellar door is at 100 Kangaroo Ground-St Andrews Road, Kangaroo Ground, with on-site parking. Opening days are limited, typically Sunday sessions from early afternoon plus tastings by appointment, so check the estate's website or socials and book before you drive out.
