Diamond Creek Fenced Dog Park

Diamond Creek Fenced Dog Park sits on the Marngrook Oval reserve on Main Hurstbridge Road, a fully fenced off-leash park with zones split by energy level, including a separate area for small and timid dogs. It is the standout off-leash option in Diamond Creek: secure, zoned and set up for training as well as free running.

The dog setup

The park divides into three spaces: a large runabout area for general socialising and ball chasing, a training zone with ramps, tunnels and poles, and a quiet zone for small, older or timid dogs who need a low-pressure run. Entry and exit use double-gate airlocks so nobody's dog bolts while gates swing. Water fountains with bowls sit inside the zones, and there is bench seating and shade from the surrounding bush.

Dogs must stay under effective voice control and supervised at all times while inside. Clean up immediately; bins are provided but carry spare bags. Glass is not permitted, and small children need watching around dogs at full pace. The surface is mixed grass and gravel, and the runabout zone turns muddy in winter, so a towel in the car earns its place.

Max: Use the double-gate airlock properly and do not prop a gate open to squeeze through. It is there so nobody's dog gets onto the oval or the road.

Worth knowing

Outside the fence the normal Nillumbik rules apply: dogs are on leash on the Diamond Creek Trail and within 5 metres of shared paths, and off limits around the nearby wetlands and reserved sporting ovals. Weekday afternoons between 4pm and 6pm and weekend mornings are the busy windows; mid-morning on a weekday is the quiet one. The zoned layout makes it a good first stop for a new rescue or a dog still learning park manners.

Getting there and parking

There is a dedicated car park at the reserve entrance off Main Hurstbridge Road, and the park is an easy walk from Diamond Creek railway station on the Hurstbridge line. The layout is built to be wheelchair accessible, including the gate system.

Make a day of it

The Diamond Creek Trail starts next door for an on-lead leg stretch, and Piccolo Meccanico is a dog friendly coffee stop in town. For another fenced session, the Hurstbridge Dog Park is a short drive up the road with its own water and bags.
