Malcolm Blair Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits on Karingal Drive in Greensborough, a secure enclosed run inside the wider Banyule reserve. The fully fenced boundary is the main draw: it is a genuinely contained space where dogs still working on recall can be let off the lead without risk.

The dog setup

The enclosure has a double-gated entry and mixes open grass with mature trees for shade. Reported play features include tunnels, boulders, a sandpit and a dedicated digging pit, so there is enrichment beyond a plain run. Bench seating and waste bins are provided, and bags are usually stocked at the gates.

The wider reserve adds tennis courts and a playground, which makes it a useful multi-purpose stop for households juggling kids and dogs. Keep children supervised inside the fence; this is a high-activity dog area.

Worth knowing

Off-leash applies only inside the fenced boundary. On the rest of the reserve, dogs stay leashed under Banyule City Council rules. Stay with your dog and keep it in sight, clean up immediately, and leash up and leave if a dog turns aggressive.

Max: a fence is worth its weight if recall is a work in progress. Leash on until the gate is shut behind you, every time.

Getting there

The address is 94 Karingal Drive, Greensborough, with further reserve access from Layton Avenue, Melville Drive and Walnut Road. Parking is on-street along Karingal Drive and nearby residential streets and can fill at peak times, so allow a short walk to the gate. Local buses connect from Greensborough station.

Poulter Reserve, about 1.6km away, offers a larger open off-leash option if you want a change of scene, and Bundoora Park Fenced Dog Park adds an agility course a short drive south. Greensborough's Main Street cafes with outdoor seating, including Prelude Coffee & Bagels, make an easy coffee stop afterwards.
