Watsonia Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash park on Lambourn Road in Watsonia, giving dogs a secure space to run and socialise without worrying about traffic or a hard boundary.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced area, but owners need to keep effective voice or hand control at all times. Carry a lead even though the park is fenced, clean up after your dog straight away and take rubbish home. Some visitors note there is no separate small-dog zone, so a nervous or small dog may find the open mix of sizes overwhelming.

There's no small-dog zone here, so if your dog is little or shy, check the crowd before you unclip the lead.

What's there. The whole park is fenced, with a water fountain for dogs, some seating, and parking nearby.

Getting there. 33 Lambourn Rd, Watsonia. Watsonia Railway Station on the Hurstbridge Line is an easy walk for locals, and there's ample parking nearby for a drive-in visit.

Nearby with the dogs. Mr Martins is a short walk away on Lambourn Road for a coffee once the dogs are worn out, and Honey Cafe on the town square is a few minutes further.

Mid-morning on weekdays (roughly 10am to 1pm) tends to be quietest. Early mornings and after-work hours draw the biggest crowds, so aim outside those windows if your dog needs a calmer introduction.
