BIG4 Crystal Brook Tourist Park

The basics. BIG4 Crystal Brook Tourist Park sits on Heidelberg-Warrandyte Road on the bush fringe of Doncaster East, about 45 minutes from the Melbourne CBD and handy to the Yarra Valley. It takes dogs, but on conditions: pets are welcome on camping and powered sites and in specific designated pet-friendly cabins, not across the whole accommodation range.

The rules. Dogs must be on-lead at all times within the park and cannot be left unattended. Pets are not permitted in the amenity blocks, camp kitchen or laundry. Persistent barking is not tolerated, and waste must be picked up and binned straight away. Doggy bag dispensers are provided around the grounds.

The place. A shaded, bush setting with a swimming pool, adventure playground, jumping pillow and games room (people only). Sites are spacious and suit caravans, campervans and tents.

Nearby with the dogs. The Yarra River and Warrandyte State Park walking paths are close by, and Warrandyte and Templestowe have cafes with outdoor seating. Several off-leash reserves sit within 10 to 15 minutes for a proper run, since the park itself is lead-only.

Before you book. Reserve a pet-friendly site or cabin early for weekends and peak season, bring your own bedding and water bowl, and confirm the deposit and any pet fee at the time of booking.
