Woodlea Reserve on Woodlea Street in Doncaster East is a moderate suburban off-leash reserve: a mix of level grass and treed areas handy for a quick local run, doubling as a neighbourhood park with play and sports facilities sharing the space.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-lead in the designated areas under effective voice control, following Manningham City Council's dog order. On-lead rules kick in within 15 metres of the playground equipment, barbecue areas and any organised sporting event. There is perimeter fencing, but it is not escape-proof, so dogs with a habit of bolting should stay close and watchful owners should stay present. The reserve fronts Woodlea Street in Doncaster East, with kerbside parking in the surrounding residential streets. The suburb's shopping strips at Jackson Court and Tunstall Square are a few minutes away, and buses along the main roads cover anyone arriving without a car.

The Aranga Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Donvale is the closest fully fenced option if the unfenced run is not enough, and the Boronia Grove Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is another same-suburb option. For coffee, Ruffey Lake Park makes a good on-lead finish to the morning.
