Aranga Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Aranga Reserve is Donvale's fully fenced dog park on Eastway Avenue, and the double-gated entry is the reason to bring a dog who bolts or a pup still learning recall. It is well used by locals, with a separate area to keep smaller or shyer dogs away from the confident crowd.

The rules. Off-leash is only inside the fenced perimeter; the surrounding reserve is on-leash. Owners must stay with their dogs and supervise. Check both gates click shut behind you, since the double-gate airlock only works if one is closed before the other opens. Bins and bags sit near the gates, so clean up as you go.

What's there. Basic agility obstacles, water taps with bowls, and plenty of benches with some shade. There is a small dog area for separating the timid from the boisterous, and a children's playground sits just outside the fence. Evening lighting is limited, so a torch helps in winter.

Getting there. The entrance is on Eastway Avenue and parking there is tight; Darvall Street usually has room. Nearest buses run on Springvale Road, a short walk away. After heavy rain the ground churns up, so expect muddy paws.

Nearby with the dogs. Tunstall Square in Doncaster East has cafes with covered outdoor seating for a post-run coffee. For a proper break, Down The Rabbit Hole in Templestowe is a well-known dog-friendly stop.

When to go. Weekday mornings and the after-work window around 5pm to 6pm are busiest, along with weekend mornings. For a quieter session, aim for the weekday midday lull between 11am and 2pm. Good for social dogs who want a run, and for nervous ones if you pick the calm hours.
