Boronia Grove Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Boronia Grove Reserve off Leeds Street is a quiet, mostly shaded grassy off-leash area in Doncaster East, open around the clock. It sits close to the Koonung Creek Trail, which makes it work as a stop on a longer walk rather than just a standalone paddock, and locals value it for early-morning and evening runs.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-lead under effective voice control. The reserve is not fully fenced, so reliable recall is essential to keep dogs off the surrounding streets, and you should carry a lead to re-secure your dog when entering or leaving. Standard Manningham buffers apply: on-lead within 15 metres of play equipment, barbecue facilities or organised sporting events and functions. Waste bins are provided and pickup is expected. Bring your own water bowl, as a dedicated dog tap is not guaranteed.

Established trees give plenty of natural shade over maintained walking paths and open grass, and the mood is a calm, sociable wander rather than a high-energy pack scene. Locals report it busiest on Sunday and Monday evenings, Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons, and quietest on mid-week evenings and Saturday nights. For a nervous or reactive dog, aim for a weekday midday slot.

Getting there and parking

The main access is at the end of Leeds Street, with free parking at that end. By car, come off the Eastern Freeway at the Doncaster Road or Elgar Road exit. Buses along Doncaster Road leave a short walk in.
