Zerbes Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Zerbes Reserve is a neighbourhood reserve in Doncaster East with open sports fields, a circuit path and one feature local dog walkers rate highly: a shaded pine grove that stays drier and cleaner than the ovals through winter. When other reserves around Manningham are boggy, this is where the regulars end up.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-lead under effective control across the open space and the pine grove. The reserve is only partly fenced, so recall matters, particularly near the Blackburn Road side and the edges that open onto neighbouring sections. Manningham's standard conditions apply: back on lead within 15 metres of the play equipment and the permanent BBQs, and off the ovals entirely when organised sport, training or a public event is on. Bin all waste.

The vibe

It is a working family park first and a dog park second, which keeps the mix interesting. The nature-themed playground with its flying fox and rope climbs draws young families, the oval hosts local cricket and football, and the Guide and Scout halls run out of the reserve too. The circuit path loops the sportsground if your dog likes to move while you walk. There is no dedicated dog water point, so pack a bowl.

Pepsi: straight to the pines when it has been raining. Twenty minutes of sniffing under the trees beats a muddy oval every time.

Getting there and parking

Access and on-site parking are via Saxonwood Drive, off Blackburn Road. Manningham buses run along Blackburn Road and the surrounding streets if you would rather leave the car at home.

Close by with the dogs

The Ruffey Lake Park sprawl is a short drive north with walking tracks around the lake, and Cat Jump Park offers another Manningham off-leash option nearby.
