Delacombe Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Delacombe Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a large, fully fenced off-leash enclosure in South Morang, set in the middle of the reserve beneath the power lines. Double-gated airlock entries on both sides mean arriving and leaving dogs never share an open gate, and there is a real agility course to work through rather than just open grass.

The dog setup

Leashes come off only once you are inside the fence; dogs stay on lead until then. Inside, off-leash runs under voice and visual control, with owners required to stay in the enclosure with their dog. The gear includes weave poles, low hurdles, jump-through boards and a raised platform with side ramps. Water taps with bowls sit inside and near the entries, and bins are positioned at the gates, though carrying spare bags is still smart.

Aggressive behaviour means leashing up and leaving straight away. Seating is limited and mostly sits outside the fence, and shade is scarce, so midday summer visits are hard going for dogs and humans alike.

Max: check the latches on both airlock doors before you let your dog off leash. Two dogs meeting nose to nose right at the entry is the most common flashpoint here.

The vibe

Weekday mornings and Friday evenings are the quiet sessions; weekend mornings and afternoons draw the crowds, which is great for social dogs and hard work for reactive ones. The wider reserve has two senior ovals, a playground and BBQ areas, so the family can split duties, and landscaped scrub patches inside the pens give sniffers something to do beyond fetch. Some owners report static build-up from the overhead power lines on dry, windy days.

Getting there and parking

A dedicated car park sits at the end of Wilton Court. Pedestrian entries also connect from Delacombe Drive, Allan Avenue and Ronald Avenue, and the surrounding streets are residential and walkable, so most locals arrive on foot.

Close by with the dogs

For a post-run coffee, St Ivy Cafe and Drip Bar Acai both seat dogs outdoors. Plenty Gorge Parklands is close by for a longer on-leash walk if the fenced yard is not enough.
