Drip Bar Acai South Morang

Drip Bar Acai South Morang is a dessert bar at 7/340 McDonalds Road, South Morang, in Melbourne's north-east, and the self-described home of Melbourne's first organic acai soft serve. It is a late-opening sweet stop rather than a breakfast cafe, and it leans into its dog crowd hard enough that the shop's own social feed runs a "Dogs of Drip" series featuring the regulars.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor and footpath seating, where the whole menu is orderable, and staff are visibly comfortable with dogs at the tables. Keep the leash on and expect footpath traffic: if your dog gets excited about passing prams and other dogs, take the table furthest from the walkway. Bowls are not guaranteed, so carry water.

The menu

The core is acai: soft serve, loaded bowls with generous toppings, and fruit-forward creations, backed by crepe stacks, Nutella-leaning desserts, pistachio versions for the enthusiasts, smoothies and shakes, including the much-photographed Biscoff shake. Hours run from midday to 10pm most nights, to 11pm on Friday and Saturday, so it fits an after-dinner run better than a morning coffee.

Getting there and parking

The shop fronts McDonalds Road, a main arterial through South Morang, with parking in the surrounding shopping strip, which makes it an easy drive-in stop. Weekend afternoons bring the dessert crowd, so a short wait for an outdoor table is possible.
