Dights Falls Loop Trail

The Dights Falls Loop Trail circles the Fairfield side of Yarra Bend Park, past the old basalt weir at Dights Falls and Kane's Bridge. It is one of inner Melbourne's best river walks, with a few firm rules for dogs.

Leads and the off-lead spots

Parks Victoria asks for dogs on lead on most of the loop. Signed off-lead areas sit elsewhere in Yarra Bend Park, such as Deep Rock, so let the dog off only where a sign says so.

Dogs are banned outright at Galatea Point, so keep to the signed tracks there.

The walk

The loop mixes paved and gravel sections with dirt and rocky riverside tracks. River red gums, the weir and the suspension bridge keep it interesting, and there are hills to climb.

T H Westfield Reserve nearby has parking, toilets, bins and taps with dog bowls.

Make a day of it

Pick up coffee at The Farm Cafe, or keep walking on the Main Yarra Trail to the Botanic Gardens.

It draws plenty of local walkers, so pick quieter hours if your dog needs space.
