Beach Suites – Byron Bay

Beach Suites is a boutique property of individual suites and penthouses on Lawson Street in central Byron Bay, directly across from Main Beach and a two-minute walk from town. It is one of the genuinely upmarket dog-friendly stays in the region: not pet-tolerant but pet-catering, with dog beds, blankets and bowls set out in the pet suites.

Dogs at Beach Suites

Dogs stay in designated pet-friendly suites only, and each stay needs approval arranged directly with the property rather than assumed through a booking channel. Fees are published on the pet policy page: $75 per dog per night in studios and $125 per dog per night in the penthouses. Proof of current vaccination and flea treatment may be requested, dogs must be house-trained, and there is no published weight limit, so worth confirming for a large dog.

The house rules are firm and worth respecting: no dogs left unattended in the suites at any time, no dogs on beds or furniture, leads in all communal areas, and pet rooms still take daily servicing. Book direct so the pet-friendly room type is actually what lands in your confirmation.

The beach problem across the road

Pepsi: the ocean out the front is a look, not a swim. Main Beach is dog-prohibited, so the daily routine is a drive to Belongil or Tallow first, coffee in town second.

The sandy view opposite is Main Beach, which Byron Shire Council prohibits dogs on entirely, from the rock wall to the lighthouse. The off-lead options are north and south: Belongil Beach South dog exercise area allows off-lead 24/7 between Manfred Street and the western side of the Main Beach car park, and Tallow Beach at Suffolk Park runs off-lead from Jarman Street up to the Arakwal National Park boundary. On the sand itself dogs stay in the inter-tidal zone, clear of the dunes, under effective control with bags carried.

Getting there

The suites sit on Lawson Street in the middle of town, with secure undercover parking that makes unloading a dog and luggage painless. Cafes, the beach and the lighthouse walk are all on foot. Dog-friendly tables at Folk and The Roadhouse cover breakfast and dinner without the car.
