Folk Byron Bay

Folk is a leafy plant-based cafe on the corner of Ewingsdale and Skinners Shoot Roads, just out of the Byron Bay town centre. The pull for dog owners is the garden: a roomy, shaded outdoor area where dogs are openly welcome, a proper sit-down spot away from the main-street crowds rather than a footpath perch.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor garden on lead, and the cafe makes a point of it. Indoor seating is for people only, as standard. Water bowls are usually out in the garden and staff are easy with dogs, though carrying your own bowl is still worth the glovebox space. The garden is rustic and can fill up, so keep your dog settled near the table.

The vibe

Folk is known for plant-based breakfast and lunch, good coffee and a relaxed boho garden setting that suits a longer, calmer visit than the town strip manages. The banana bread and smoothies get regular mention, and there is enough on the menu to make it a proper meal stop. Hours run 7.30am to 2.30pm daily.

Getting there and parking

It is at 399 Ewingsdale Road on the main road into town, with the entrance off Skinners Shoot Road. There is unsealed on-site parking that fills quickly, so arrive outside the mid-morning breakfast peak if you want an easy spot.

Close by with the dogs

The quiet lanes around Skinners Shoot Road make an easy scenic walk before or after, and the Tallow Beach Dog Exercise Area and Belongil Beach South Dog Exercise Area are short drives for a proper run. Otherside Cafe and Leaf & Grain are other health-focused stops in town.
