What visitors mention
Otherside is a local-favourite cafe in the Arts and Industry Estate, off Ewingsdale Road and away from the beachfront crowds. The draw for dog owners is a spacious, shaded outdoor area paired with some of the better coffee in town, in a part of Byron that is far quieter than the centre.
The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating, on lead, and the cafe is known for being good with them. Indoors is off-limits under NSW food rules. Water is usually available and staff are welcoming. It gets busy, so if your dog is anxious, aim for a quieter hour rather than the brunch rush.
Good to know. It is known for excellent coffee and a healthy brunch menu, eggs, avo toast and the like, with the feel of a genuine local hangout rather than a tourist stop. The estate setting makes for a calmer, more spread-out visit.
Getting there. The address is 1/1 Banksia Dr, just off the Ewingsdale Road entrance to town. The Arts and Industry Estate has free parking, including spaces at or near the cafe, so it is an easy drive-and-park compared with the CBD.
Nearby with the dogs. The quiet estate streets are fine for a short walk, and Belongil Beach, with off-lead times, is a five to ten minute drive away.
Go midweek or outside the brunch peak for a relaxed table, and pair it with a Belongil run on the way back.
