Barefoot Brew Room

Barefoot Brew Room is a hole-in-the-wall coffee spot in central Byron Bay, a minute's walk from Main Beach, and it is a genuine dog stop: the laneway seating welcomes dogs and the cafe keeps treats on hand. It opens at 6am on weekdays and 7am on weekends, wraps up at 12.30pm, and closes entirely on Sundays, so mornings only.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor milk-crate seating at the front of the laneway, on lead and under control in what is a public walkway. Dog treats are part of the deal here and water is easy to come by. The space is small, so it suits a quick coffee rather than a long sit, and a dog that is relaxed about people passing close by.

Worth knowing

Locals rate it among the best coffee in town: they roast their own beans, and the house blend, batch brew and cold drip all get a mention, alongside bagels and freshly baked cookies. The vibe is friendly and community-minded rather than polished, which is the appeal.

Getting there and parking

It is central and walkable from most of town. Street parking is limited at peak times, so the nearby paid lots are the fallback; walking in from your accommodation is simpler and saves the dog a hot car wait.

Close by with the dogs

Main Beach is about a minute away for an on-lead stroll, and Belongil Beach South is the designated dog exercise area when your dog needs off-lead time. If you want a sit-down table instead, Folk Byron Bay and The Hum are the other dog-friendly cafes in town.
