Betty's Burgers(Byron Bay)

Betty's Burgers sits at 2 Lawson Street, a few steps off Main Beach in the middle of Byron Bay. It is a quick, casual burger shack built for hungry beach crowds, and dogs are welcome at the covered outdoor tables, which makes it a natural post-swim stop before the walk home.

The dog setup

Dogs are fine in the covered outdoor dining area and the street-front seating, on lead and settled at your feet; indoors is off-limits under food-hygiene rules. Staff will usually bring a water bowl if you ask. It gets seriously busy in holiday season, so keep your dog out of the walkway flow and off the chairs, and pick your time if your dog crowds easily.

Worth knowing

The menu is classic burgers, crispy fries, onion rings and thick shakes, with vegan and plant-based options and a peanut butter milkshake that gets name-checked often. Doors open from 10am daily, running to 8:30pm most nights and 9:30pm Friday and Saturday. This is a short-sit venue rather than a long dinner; order, eat, and move on to the beach walk.

Getting there and parking

Lawson Street is central Byron, close to Main Beach and the town end of the beachfront. Paid street parking on Lawson and the surrounding blocks is tight in peak periods, so walking in from the beach or the Lawson Street side streets is the simpler option.

Close by with the dogs

The real payoff is the off-lead time nearby: Belongil Beach South is a Byron Shire Council dog exercise area off-lead around the clock in its southern section, on the sand between Manfred Street and the Main Beach car park. Note the northern end past Manfred Street is dog-prohibited, and Main Beach itself does not take dogs.
