No Bones Byron Bay

No Bones is a fully plant-based restaurant and bar at 11 Fletcher Street in Byron Bay, a short walk from Main Beach. It opens for dinner seven nights a week - 5pm to 9pm Sunday to Thursday, until 10pm Friday and Saturday - and dogs are welcome at the front tables, so it works as an evening out with the dog along rather than a left-at-home arrangement.

The dog setup

Leashed dogs settle at the outdoor seating across the front of the building, on the footpath and verandah under shelter of the facade. The indoor dining room is off limits. The tables sit on a busy sidewalk, so keep your dog on lead and tucked in close while the street traffic passes. Staff are good with dogs and will bring a water bowl on request, but your own bowl is the safe call on a warm night.

The vibe

The kitchen does creative plant-based comfort food that wins over committed carnivores: crispy fried chicken with agave sriracha glaze, watermelon tartare, corn ribs, zucchini flowers and house-made pastas, with a Carbonara Monday special and a happy hour of discounted cocktails and wine from 5pm to 6pm daily. Getting there and parking

Evening parking in central Byron is genuinely hard. Metered spots along Fletcher and Jonson streets fill early on weekend nights, so walk in from town accommodation if you can and leave the car at your lodgings.
