Mossdale Reserve off Mossdale Court is a small, roughly half-hectare local reserve in Templestowe, an open green space that doubles as a pedestrian link between the surrounding courts. It is a quiet, community-scale spot for a short off-leash run rather than a regional destination.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash in the designated area under effective control, but must be on-leash within 15 metres of the playground, BBQ and picnic areas, and when a sporting event is on. Bins are provided; pick up after your dog. Confirm the boundaries on the Manningham Council signage on arrival.

What's there. A grassed open area, paved paths, a multi-age playground with slide, swings and monkey bars, and a couple of picnic tables. There is no reliable drinking tap, so bring water for the dog.

Getting there. Access is via the surrounding suburban streets with street parking; it is also bus accessible from nearby main roads.

It is a thoroughfare between streets, so keep an eye out for passing foot traffic and the unfenced edges.

When to go. Weekday midday and Sunday afternoons are quietest. Early mornings and late afternoons or evenings are the busier local windows. Good for small dogs and a quick leg-stretch.
