Hermann Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Hermann Reserve off Hermann Court is a small, leafy local off-lead spot in Templestowe, with open grass and mature trees in a quiet residential pocket. It is a neighbourhood reserve rather than a destination park, best suited to a quick run and some social play with the local regulars.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-lead in the designated area under effective control, returning promptly when called. Manningham City Council's buffer rules apply: back on-lead within 15 metres of any playground or barbecue and picnic facilities, and whenever an organised sporting event or approved public function is on. The reserve is not fully fenced, so keep a lead on hand, carry waste bags, and confirm the current boundaries on the council signage when you arrive.

Max: unfenced and tucked into a residential pocket, so recall matters here before the lead comes off.

What is on site

Mature trees for shade, bench seating and council waste-bag dispensers. There is no playground or toilet block of its own, and no tap, so bring water for the dog on warmer days. Parking is street-side only on the surrounding residential streets, with bus access along the nearby main roads leaving a short walk.

When to go

Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are quiet. Weekday evenings from about 5pm and weekends are the social peak, better for confident dogs than nervous ones.

Two Doors Cafe on Anderson Street and Harry's Cafe and Deli are both local coffee stops nearby.
