Serpells Community Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Serpells Community Reserve at 7 Burleigh Drive is a large, open suburban reserve in Templestowe where dogs run off-leash across most of the grounds. The draw is space: leafy lawns with mature trees and a paved perimeter path, room enough that even on a busy weekend a shy dog can find a quiet corner.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash through the reserve under effective voice control, except within 15 metres of the playground and BBQ areas, and dogs must stay off the ovals when organised sport is in progress. Keep your dog on-leash in the car park and surrounding streets, and pick up after them. Confirm current boundaries on the Manningham Council signage on arrival.

What's there. Bench seating around the edges, waste bins, and a paved path good for an on-leash warm-up. Lighting is limited, so this is a daylight spot. The grass can get muddy after heavy rain.

Getting there. Access is via Burleigh Drive off Serpells Road, with free street parking along Burleigh Drive. It is easiest by car; the nearest bus stops are a short walk away.

When to go. Weekday mornings are near-empty and calm. Weekend mornings, roughly 10am to noon, and late afternoons are the social peak. Good for high-energy runners and dogs that enjoy company.
