Fielding Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Fielding Reserve is a suburban off-lead reserve on Fielding Way in Templestowe, linking through to Aumann Drive. The pull is a large open grassed area under mature trees, calm enough for a relaxed walk and popular with locals for a social run with dogs they already know.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-lead in the designated open spaces under effective voice or hand control. Manningham City Council's lead rules draw clear buffers: on-lead within 15 metres of the playground near the Fielding Way entrance, the BBQ shelter and the picnic areas, and on-lead whenever entering, exiting or passing through non-designated parts of the reserve. Dogs come off the sports ground entirely when organised sport is on. Bins are provided, and you should carry a bag per dog and confirm the current boundaries on the council signage when you arrive.

Max: the reserve is unfenced and edges onto suburban streets, so make sure recall is solid before the lead comes off.

What is on site

A large open running area, the playground near the Fielding Way entrance, a BBQ shelter with tables and public toilets. There is no reliable water tap at the oval, so bring your own for the dog.

Getting there and parking

Reach it off Manningham Road or Fitzsimons Lane via Aumann Drive or Fielding Way, with free street parking on Fielding Way. Buses run along nearby main roads such as Reynolds Road, leaving a short walk.

When to go

Weekday mid-mornings are calm and good for socialising. The busy windows are weekend mid-mornings and weekday afternoons from about 3:30pm, when the playground and school crowds pick up. The oval is big enough to find space if your dog likes room.

Two Doors Cafe on Anderson Street is the local coffee option, and Petty's Orchards is a pleasant stop nearby. If you need a fenced enclosure, Aranga Reserve Fenced Dog Park at Donvale is the closest secure option, while Serpells Community Reserve is another Templestowe off-lead ground.
