Spring Valley Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Spring Valley Reserve is a Manningham Council neighbourhood reserve at 31 Spring Valley Drive in Templestowe, with a designated off-leash area on the open grass. It is a local green space rather than an enclosed dog park, which makes it a good fit for calm dogs with reliable recall rather than escape artists.

The dog setup

Dogs can run off-leash across the open space as long as they stay under effective voice control. The usual Manningham buffers apply: leash back on within 15 metres of the playground, barbecue or picnic areas, and keep dogs off the ground when organised sport is in progress. Carry bags and pick up after your dog, and if recall is a work in progress, keep the lead on.

Worth knowing

The reserve is unfenced and open to the surrounding streets, so keep an eye on dogs that like to wander. It is a well-equipped little ground for a suburb park: a playground with a climbing net and swings, a basketball and netball half court, a cricket pitch and practice areas, plus picnic tables and seating scattered around. Confirm the current off-leash boundary on the Manningham signage when you arrive, and bring your own water and bags as supplies are not guaranteed.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits in a residential pocket of Templestowe, best reached by car with street parking along Spring Valley Drive and the nearby local streets. Bus routes run through the wider suburb if you would rather leave the car at home; check PTV for the closest stop.

Close by with the dogs

Serpells Community Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is the closest alternative off-leash ground, and Green Gully Linear Park Dog Off Leash Area adds a strip of linear walking. For a bigger outing, the riverside Westerfolds Park trails are a short drive away.
