Poppy's Dog Park

Poppy's Dog Park sits inside Paterson Reserve on Primrose Street in Quakers Hill, a fully fenced off-leash park run by Blacktown City Council and split into two separate compounds so small dogs and large dogs each get their own space.

The rules

Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced areas around the clock. Blacktown's off-leash rules still apply inside the fence: your dog stays under effective control, and dogs that have been declared dangerous or restricted breeds are not allowed in off-leash areas at all. Keep dogs leashed while moving through the double-gated entry so nobody bolts on the way in or out, and bag and bin waste before you leave.

Max: use the double gate properly, one gate shut before the next opens. It is the whole point of an airlock entry, especially if your dog is quick on the lead.

What's there

Two fenced, separated sections, one for small breeds and one for larger dogs, both open and grassy with room to run. Shaded seating gives owners cover, a water tap sits on site, and the wider Paterson Reserve adds a playground, courts and toilets next door. The tap's flow can be limited, so bring a bowl and your own water as backup. There is no public toilet inside the dog park itself.

Getting there

The park is at 10 Primrose Street, Quakers Hill, in Sydney's north-west. Free parking sits directly beside the off-leash gates, which makes arrivals and exits easy. It is a suburban street setting best reached by car, though Quakers Hill station is a walkable distance for those without one.

Watch-outs

The ground near the gates can turn muddy and boggy after heavy rain, so a towel in the car earns its place. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quiet window; after-work hours draw a bigger, more social crowd of regulars, which is good if your dog thrives on company and worth avoiding if it does not.
