The Corner Shop Cafe

The Corner Shop Cafe is the breakfast-and-lunch local in Quakers Hill that the neighbourhood actually queues for, serving a proper brunch menu from a small shopfront on Farnham Road. Weekday service runs 7am to 2pm, with slightly later starts on weekends.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating out front on the footpath by the entrance, and the staff are genuinely dog-friendly, putting water bowls out for regulars and the occasional puppuccino has been known to appear. There is no indoor or courtyard option, so this is a footpath-tables-only visit, and they are first-come first-served. Weekday mornings are the easy window; weekend brunch fills the footpath fast, so arrive early or expect a short wait.

Worth knowing

The menu runs past the usual smashed avo and eggs benedict into Turkish eggs, brekkie bruschetta, truffled mushrooms, French toast and a solid brekkie burger, with strong coffee and iced chai that regulars order on oat milk. It is a modern, casual fit-out with a loyal local base rather than a destination cafe, which is exactly what you want from a corner-shop local.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits just off Quakers Hill Parkway in Sydney's north-west, with Quakers Hill station a short walk for train arrivals. Parking is street-based on Farnham Road and the surrounding side streets, generally manageable outside the weekend breakfast rush.

Close by with the dogs

Let the dog loose first at Poppy's Dog Park, a short drive away, then settle in for coffee. Further afield, the Ridgeview Park fenced dog park at Riverstone pairs well with a morning out, and The Old Boy in Blacktown is a solid backup cafe.
