Archibald-Adjacent Reserve

Archibald-Adjacent Reserve is a fully fenced off-leash dog park on the corner of Stanhope Parkway and Sunnyholt Road in Stanhope Gardens, built for a secure off-lead run rather than a scenic wander. The corner position makes it easy to find and hard to miss, sitting right on the suburb's main traffic spine.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced area but stay under effective voice control, and here that means what it says: the yard opens onto a busy road corner, so a dog with loose recall should stay on a long line until its manners are proven. Blacktown City Council rules also apply around the edges: restricted or declared dangerous breeds are not permitted in off-leash areas, and owners are asked not to bring more than two dogs per visit. Pick up and bin waste immediately, and treat the bag dispensers as a bonus rather than a guarantee, since they are usually stocked but run dry after busy weekends.

What is on site

Full perimeter fencing, some agility equipment, a water station for dogs, a gazebo for shade, seating and a BBQ area. The gazebo makes summer visits workable and gives owners a fixed base with a clear view of the whole yard, which suits anyone easing a new dog into park society.

Getting there and parking

The park sits right on the corner of Stanhope Parkway and Sunnyholt Road, an easy drive from anywhere in Stanhope Gardens. It is roughly a 350 to 500 metre walk from the closest residential streets and bus stops, and about two kilometres from Kellyville Metro station. Street parking is available along the nearby blocks.

Close by with the dogs

Stanhope Dog Park is the suburb's other option when the enclosure is crowded, Glenwood Dog Park is one suburb south, and Local Hive Cafe in Kellyville covers the coffee leg. Stanhope Village shopping centre is about 1.3 kilometres away with outdoor seating where leashed dogs are generally tolerated.
