Local Hive Cafe

Local Hive Cafe sat in the Kellyville Village Shopping Centre on Wrights Road and was a reliable dog-friendly all-day brunch option for the Hills District, but the shopping centre's own store directory currently lists it as temporarily closed. The cafe's own website is still live, so the situation may change either way: check the centre directory or the cafe's socials before making a trip, and treat this page as a record of what it offered rather than a guarantee it is pouring today.

What it was known for

When trading, the cafe poured Toby's Estate coffee and ran an all-day breakfast and lunch menu with eggs benedict, sweet potato fries and a grilled sumac salad among the regular orders. The dog-friendly draw was the run of outdoor tables beside the centre's fenced children's playground: dogs welcome outside only, with a clear view of both the playground and passing foot traffic, which suited families juggling kids and a dog. Staff would often bring out a water bowl. Hours were 6:30am to 3pm daily.

Getting there

The centre sits at 90 Wrights Road in Kellyville, with a large free car park directly outside the shops, so parking was never the hard part. The Metro Northwest line at Kellyville station is a short drive away for anyone coming from further down the Hills District.

Close by with the dogs

In the same centre, Caffe Cherry Beans runs pet-friendly outdoor seating and covers the coffee-and-big-breakfast brief. Further afield, Mungerie House in Rouse Hill and Remy Cafe & Bistro in Castle Hill are established dog-friendly stops, and Connie Lowe Reserve covers the off-lead run.
