Mungerie House is a restored historic homestead on Bellcast Road, now home to The Local Shed cafe, set right against Melaleuca Park's open lawns and playgrounds. It is one of the easier combined coffee-and-dog-walk stops in Rouse Hill.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area of The Local Shed cafe, but not inside the indoor dining room. Keep your dog on a leash, both in the cafe's outdoor area and in the surrounding parkland. Bring your own water bowl to be safe. The outdoor area is spacious enough that a visit doesn't feel cramped.

Known for. The homestead setting gives it a bit more character than a standard strip cafe, and The Local Shed's coffee and casual brunch menu are the draw. The adjoining green space and playgrounds mean it works for a mixed family-and-dog outing, not just a quick coffee.

Getting there. 16 Bellcast Road, Rouse Hill. Free on-site parking, and it's an easy drive off Windsor Road or Schofields Road.

Nearby with the dogs. Melaleuca Park sits right next door, with open grass for an on-leash walk before or after your coffee. Rouse Hill Regional Park is also close by, with walking paths and shaded BBQ areas, again on-leash.

Go mid-morning on a weekday if you want the outdoor tables free and the park quiet, weekends fill up fast given the playground next door.
