Binstead Way Fenced Dog Park

The Binstead Way Fenced Dog Park is a small, fully fenced off-leash enclosure in the Weka Parklands pocket of Oxenford, sitting beside a children's playground and a basketball half-court. It is a neighbourhood park rather than a destination: quiet, compact, and handy when you want secure fencing without the crowds of the bigger northern Gold Coast dog parks.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced, so dogs go off-lead only inside it and back on the lead the moment you exit. City of Gold Coast rules apply: the handler must be 17 or older and able to control the dog by voice command, dogs wear a current registration tag, regulated dogs such as declared dangerous or menacing animals are barred, waste is bagged and binned, and children with you need close supervision. Keep leads on around the adjoining playground, and keep an eye on interactions, since this is a small yard where an over-exuberant dog has nowhere to get away from another one.

Worth knowing

Weekdays are typically quiet and Sunday afternoons are the busiest stretch, which tells you most visitors are locals walking in. Some shaded seating covers the owners, and water bowls are usually on hand, though bringing your own is safer in summer. Signage is minimal, so first-timers can circle the pocket streets once before finding the gate, and the ground drains slowly after rain.

The park sits off Binstead Way in a residential part of Oxenford, with street parking nearby and no dedicated car park. Driving is the practical way in; the nearest shops and cafes are a short drive toward Studio Village or the M1 interchange.
