Damian Leeding Memorial Park Fenced Dog Park

Damian Leeding Memorial Park's fenced dog area sits inside the Coomera and District Watersports Complex on the Old Pacific Highway at Oxenford, wrapped by the flat circuit around Regatta Lake. Secure fencing, generous space and a lakeside walk on either side of the run make it a fixture for northern Gold Coast dog owners, and it is open around the clock.

The dog setup

The enclosure is a large, fully fenced field with dual-gate access, agility obstacles, undercover seating for owners and drinking fountains with dog bowls on the park paths. Off lead applies inside the fence; everywhere else, including the lake track and playground areas, dogs stay on lead under City of Gold Coast rules, with effective control and immediate removal for any dog getting too rough. Recent visitor guides describe the enclosure as a single communal space with no separate small-dog zone, so gauge the mix on the day before unclipping a shy dog.

Max: the field is wide open with limited shade inside the fence, so in summer check the ground heat before you let them off and shift to early morning or after 4pm.

Worth knowing

The setting does the heavy lifting: a flat paved 4km track circles Regatta Lake for an on-lead warm-up or cool-down, and the park adds a playground, picnic tables and public toilets. Waste bags are usually stocked at the dog park but bring your own as backup, and mind the mosquitoes on still evenings near the water.

Getting there and parking

The complex sits just off the M1 at the Oxenford exits, opposite the Oxenford shops, with a large free paved car park shared with the watersports club. Buses on the Pacific Highway near Tamborine-Oxenford Road leave a short walk.

When to go

Weekend mornings from 8 to 10 and weekday afternoons are the social peak. For a quieter run, weekday mornings and evenings are the windows, and mid-summer sessions are best kept to the cool ends of the day.
